'Flawed Choice'

Good evening.

Upon reading today's 'The Times', I came across a contribution from Neville Gafa about the PN leadership. He states that every PN leader elected was flawed and that the present 'choice' (his words) of Simon Busuttil is also flawed because of his criticism of Labour Party's Karemenu Vella  due to some misquotation by a newspaper.
He mentions that Fenech Adami's choice of Lawrence Gonzi was flawed, and he quotes: '...and lets face it Fenech Adami is no reliable weather vane when it comes to making good choices. I mean, Lawrence Gonzi is also his choice, over John Dalli. And Gonzi has driven us into a hole while Dalli always gave us good budgets as Finance Minister...'. It seems to me that Mr. Gafa has strategically left out the fact that there was an internal election for the party leadership; Louis Galea, John Dalli and Lawrence Gonzi contested this election.
It is difficult to digest what this person is actually saying especially when he should know that each and every leader the Labour Party had, was a complete failure. Each one of them led the Labour Party into a disastrous defeat. Not only so but each Leader is synonymous with some dark chapter of our Maltese history. So Neville Gafa your arguments smell of cheap electoral rhetoric which do not hold true at all.

I will point a couple of things which unfortunately you will never ever admit because it sounds good for the country and therefore a perfect certificate for this Government under PN leadership. The economy is holding fast with good employment prospects, good GDP forecasts and good deficit forecasts. Mr. Gafa, have you forgotten that the countries around us were begging for help from EU stability funds, EMF and also tiny Malta? Have you forgotten this? Remember that investments in key economic areas and in areas which we deem are a priority, that is in Education, health, employment have increased year after year with record numbers achieved everywhere.
Yourself -being partly involved with the St.Paul's Bay PL committee- I must point out that it was your government who reduced local council budget and it was your leader Alfred Sant who introduced 50 cents on prescription medicine. Was that a good choice for leadership? Ask those people who voted for a Labour Local Council in St.Paul's Bay whether they are pleased with their decision or not...

I  will end this with your own: 'He has already been caught out making gaffes' (referring to Simon Busuttil). Joseph Muscat has already made himself known for his uncertainty in both economic planning and also in his complete lack of political versus academic economic acumen. After a million years in opposition it is unacceptable for a potential leader not having clear road map and refuse to give one.

Who has made the flawed choice?
