MLP's strategy: A Road Map with neither a Road nor a Map

Good day.

Well, both Party Leaders have had their say. Lawrence on Thursday in front of a massive crowd celebrating a yearly important event, Independence of Malta. A crowd, so massive that even pre-last election Independence day celebrations seemed a corner meeting as compared to this latest event. Joseph, on Saturday evening also in front of a massive crowd celebrating the end of a Labour Party Congress. Both leaders have exchanged broadsides with minimal effect but testing the waters.

The real battle has yet to come.

One stark difference could be seen and felt in this initial exchange; Lawrence on the offensive, Joseph on the defensive. In Lawrence I saw a battle-hardened 'real' commander (don't forget that I am his brother), rallying his troops, with his superior equipment and a different strategy; not the general, nor the lieutenant, nor the captain, but each 'of his troops' being as important as the top echelons. On the other hand Joseph deliberately forgot his precious living - wage 'bombshell', and now saying a definite no to raising the minimum wage because we might become less competitive. Kmieni indunajt hi. Globalisation has been with us for the past 10 or more years -if you haven't noticed- and raising the minimum wage will always affect our competitiveness. Joseph never mentions what he thinks about the 'COLA' mechanism; whether he should adjust its calculation or not. Or is he seeing economic sense at last of not touching the minimum wage?

What I can really say is that you are better off  with PN. At least you have stability and a job in the present financial crises; imagine when things get economically much better .

Ah yes rally your troops by promising better pastures if you win. The Middle class will not remain the middle class. Will they become the upper class? or part of the "well off" few? So in short we will have the minimum wage earners and the well off? No more middle class. Oh by the way he will develop a new 'middle class'. A quote from the 'Torca': "Sostna li b'dan il-mod pajjizna tista tinbena klassi medja gdida...". Does anybody have any idea what this means in real terms? Will families have more assets, or more money? Anyway, in short here we have the same rhetoric. The same 'fantasy' but no tangible plan; ''we have a road map with neither a road nor a map''.

This is typical of the Malta Labour Party's strategy. Grandiose theatrics and fantasy rhetoric.
