Machiavellian politics . Dictatorial Leadership.

In a span of a  few days Joseph Muscat has crushed one of his friends and anointed another . This is Machiavellian politics in its purest form. The sorry thing about this is that it had nothing to do with incompetence ,or illegal affairs  from his friend but purely because Muscat s strategy is that of anything or anyone who poses a risk to election victory should be sacrificed .The end justifies the means .He wants victory at all costs .

Lawrence Gonzi has never and will never resort to such cheap manoeuvres . I must add that PN has never resorted to such affairs , definitely not of humiliating and crushing a colleague who has been by your side for nearly the whole legislature just because of an election poll. There is ample proof of this .

If one thinks that this shows leadership in Muscat ,it only shows Muscat s dictatorial way of leadership . Gone are the words " we will work with everyone whether Nationalist or Labour " . He has not even shown any remorse for his own friend in his own party let alone others who do not show the same view point . He has not even considered  a more humane way of making his friend bow out of the political field . No . A strike with the sword avoiding possible repercussion and getting rid of him as fast as possible . Than anoiting someone who has a potential of wooing more votes than our dear friend

Is this really the "accountability " Muscat preaches ? What did his friend do wrong to be so accountable as be removed ? His friend was never given a chance to retract his position or at least explain his line of thought ? So again we have a buzz word"accountability " used by Muscat and PL and manipulating it to mean anything which does not sound nice to their ears .

These are important things which might describe the characteristics of a future Labour government under Muscat .

What you preach is not what you will do .
            You are expendable .
Accountable could mean replacing you for any reason whatsoever .
The end justifies the means .

These things do not augur well for Muscat . He might have solidified his position now ,but these manoeuvres have definitely brought doubts in PL administration .Because now you need to look forwards but be on the lookout for that sudden  strike of the sword . Now ,we do not have a United Labour Party ,but cracks have opened up at the very top . Whether these have been filled up with proper cement or a quick setting polyfilla ,time will tell .

Normally cracks at the the top signify a faulty base .   Gonzi imploding ? or Labour exploding from the top downwards .
